Wicomico County, MD - The Wicomico County Department of Public Works is preparing for a weather event expected to impact the area between January 24th and 27th, 2026. Officials are monitoring forecasts closely to ensure public safety and operational effectiveness.

The Roads Division has confirmed that staff and equipment are ready for deployment. Routes have been assigned, and supplemental machinery will be staged across the county before the weather begins.

To assist these efforts, the Solid Waste Division will provide additional staff and machinery. This support aims to help with snow removal and ensure the safe reopening of Solid Waste facilities.

Residents are advised to limit roadway use if conditions deteriorate. Relocating vehicles, trailers, and other obstructions from the roads will allow plows to operate safely and effectively.

Adherence to any emergency declarations is requested to prevent unnecessary risks.

The Solid Waste Division will operate on a modified schedule to support these operations.

On Sunday, January 25, 2026, the Newland Park Landfill will remain closed to the public as usual. The Brush Pile, External Convenience Centers, and the Newland Park Landfill Convenience Center will also be closed.

On Monday, January 26, 2026, landfill operations are scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. The Newland Park Convenience Center, External Convenience Centers, and Brush Pile will open at 12:00 p.m.

The Newland Park Landfill Offices will follow the Government Office Building schedule regarding openings or closures. This schedule is subject to change based on the storm's timing and severity.
