Wicomico County Recreation & Parks Offer Fall and Winter Season Sports Programs

Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County Recreation & Parks is offering several programs to help residents stay active this fall and winter season. The programs include the Wicomico Youth Basketball League, drop-in pickleball, the Turkey Trek 5K, karate classes, and the Eastern Shore Elite Volleyball Academy instructional program.

The Wicomico Youth Basketball League is a coed league for students in grades K-8 that focuses on skill development and fundamentals. The league will run from January 5 until late February at Bennett Middle School and the Wicomico Civic Center. Registration is open until December 8.

For pickleball enthusiasts, drop-in sessions are available for all ages from November 18 to March 6. These sessions will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. at Salisbury Middle School.

Residents can kick off Thanksgiving Day with the Turkey Trek 5K at Pemberton Park on Thursday, November 27. Check-in starts at 7 a.m., with the race beginning at 8 a.m. Pre-registration is available through November 14, and on-site registration will also be offered on the day of the event.

Karate classes with Sensei David Doran are available for ages 6 through 18 and older. These classes aim to provide a disciplined and confidence-building experience. Classes begin the first week of each month at the Wicomico Civic Center, and registration is open on a rolling basis as space allows.

The Eastern Shore Elite Volleyball Academy instructional program offers a non-competitive environment for boys and girls in grades K-12 to build their volleyball skills. Sessions will run from January 6 to February 10 on Tuesday nights at Bennett Middle School. Registration for this program is open until January 6.
