Wicomico County, MD - The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office has been made aware of a recent surge in telephone and email scams targeting local residents. In a concerning twist, scammers are posing as Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, claiming citizens owe money and threatening them with legal action or even imprisonment if they fail to pay.

Authorities would like to remind citizens that these methods are NOT standard business practices. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office has emphatically stated they will NEVER contact citizens requesting money over the phone or via email.
