WICOMICO HIGH SCHOOL INSTRUCTIONAL ASSISTANT CHARGED WITH SEXUAL ABUSE OF A MINOR AND SEX OFFENSE

Salisbury, MD - On February 5, 2024, 43-year-old Derrick Davis was taken into custody on charges of Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Fourth Degree Sexual Offense, as issued by a District Court Commissioner. The accused was employed as an instructional assistant at Wicomico High School.

Davis is alleged to have engaged in inappropriate sexual communications and behaviors with a minor, a student at Wi-Hi. 

Following these accusations being reported, an investigation was promptly initiated by the Wicomico County Child Advocacy Center, in conjunction with the Wicomico County Public Schools. Davis was charged and apprehended before he could revisit the school.

Davis was relieved of his duties and put on administrative leave during the period of this investigation and subsequent legal proceedings. 

Davis was the subject of a bond review in the District Court and released under court-ordered conditions.

He is currently on house arrest with electronic GPS monitoring and has been ordered to avoid any contact with minors while his case is under prosecution.
