Wicomico Recreation & Parks Announces Return of Chess Tournaments

Salisbury, MD - Wicomico Recreation & Parks' Adult and Youth Chess Tournaments will return to the Wicomico Civic Center on February 20 and 21. These events provide players the opportunity to compete for the title of this year's chess champion.

The Youth Chess Tournament is open to players ages 5 through 18. It begins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, February 20. Participants are guaranteed four matches. Registration is $10 in advance or $15 on the day of the event.

The Adult Chess Tournament is open to participants 18 and older. This event begins at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 21. Players are guaranteed three matches. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Rated youth players are welcome to compete in the adult tournament.

Awards will be presented to first, second, and third-place finishers in each division. Both tournaments will take place in the Midway and Da Nang Rooms at the Wicomico Civic Center.

Registration is available at the Wicomico Civic Center box office. The office is located at 500 Glen Ave., Salisbury, and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
