Woman Arrested After Pursuit Ends with her Jumping in Rehoboth Bay
Harbeson, DE - Delaware State Police arrested 40-year-old Lindsey Moncavage of Georgetown, Delaware, following a vehicle pursuit in the Long Neck area yesterday. The incident involved a low-speed chase, an injured passenger, and an attempted escape into a local body of water.
The events unfolded on January 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m. A member of the Sussex County Governor's Task Force observed a Ford F-150 nearly collide with another vehicle while traveling eastbound on John J. Williams Highway. A detective attempted to conduct a traffic stop after the truck turned onto Bay Farm Road, but the vehicle failed to stop.
A pursuit ensued as the F-150 traveled at a low speed through several area streets. During the course of the pursuit, a female passenger attempted to jump from the vehicle but was initially unsuccessful. She eventually exited the truck while it was traveling on Sloan Road and sustained a minor injury.
The pursuit concluded in the Pinewater Farm community after the F-150 struck a fence and a tree. Moncavage fled the vehicle and jumped into Rehoboth Bay. A trooper entered the water to apprehend her and successfully pulled her to safety. She was taken into custody without further incident.
A subsequent investigation revealed that Moncavage's driver's license was revoked and she was wanted for a probation violation. Troopers also discovered drug paraphernalia during a search of the vehicle.
Moncavage received a medical evaluation at an area hospital before being transported to Troop 4. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $5,504 secured bond.
She faces multiple charges, including Unlawful Imprisonment 1st Degree, Disregarding a Police Officer's Signal, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
