SALISBURY, MD - The Wor-Wic Community College Foundation will host its annual 5K Hero Run on Saturday, October 4, at 9 a.m. The event will take place on the college campus located at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury. Registration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m.

The event includes both a 5K run and a 2-mile walk open to all members of the public. Additionally, the 2025 First Responder Team Cup Challenge will allow employees from law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services agencies to compete in teams of two to three runners. The Wicomico County Sheriff's Office currently holds the coveted cup.

The run welcomes both non-disabled and para-athletes as participants. All competitors will be eligible for awards regardless of ability status. Prizes include first-place overall trophies for male and female 5K runners and first responder team members. Medals will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in multiple age categories ranging from 9 and under to 60-plus.

A special Kids' Hero Run and obstacle course will be conducted at 9:15 a.m. for children ages 9 and under. The first 100 registrants will receive an event shirt. All participants are invited to remain for the awards ceremony and refreshments following the race.

This year marks the final edition of the event after 15 years of operation. Entry fees are $25 per person or $35 per person after October 1. The kids' event costs $5 per participant. Third-party processing fees apply to online registrations.

All proceeds will benefit Wor-Wic students. Registration is available online through the events section of worwic.edu or by calling 410-334-2965.
