Salisbury, MD - Wor-Wic Community College has received the Military Friendly School Silver Award for 2025-2026 in the category of small community colleges. This prestigious recognition was granted by VIQTORY, a veteran-owned organization dedicated to connecting the military community with civilian opportunities in employment, education, and entrepreneurship.

This award highlights Wor-Wic's commitment to assisting veterans and active military personnel as they transition to civilian life through education. The evaluation process for this award involved a comprehensive analysis of public data and feedback from a proprietary survey conducted by VIQTORY.

More than 1,800 institutions participated, with criteria that included student retention, graduation rates, job placement rates, and other factors particularly relevant to veterans.

Wor-Wic offers a range of Veterans Administration G.I. Bill educational benefits for veterans, active-duty members, reservists, and their eligible family members. Additionally, military students can take advantage of tuition assistance for active duty and reserve members.

Jason King, the director of veterans services at Wor-Wic, emphasizes the college's dedication to its military community: "Wor-Wic takes pride in our veteran students and the services we provide for them. Every year, we support an average of 300 veteran, military, and eligible dependent students."

Kayla Lopez, vice president of Military Friendly, stressed the significance of transparency and standardization in recognizing institutions that genuinely invest in their military programs. "Our standards provide a benchmark that promotes positive outcomes and support services, enhancing the educational landscape and creating opportunities for the military community," Lopez stated.

The designation of Military Friendly School is not only a mark of distinction but also a testament to Wor-Wic's commitment to evolving and improving its educational programs for those who have served.
