Worcester County, MD - Worcester County residents are invited to review and provide feedback on the draft 2026 Comprehensive Plan and Land Use Map. This guiding document will shape future growth and development within the county.

On March 4, 2026, the Worcester County Planning Commission submitted the draft plan to the State of Maryland. A 60-day review period is currently underway. The plan acts as a long-term guide for decisions regarding land use, zoning, transportation, housing, environmental protection, and infrastructure.

"This document is the culmination of two years of planning efforts," Development, Review and Permitting Director Jennifer Keener said. "Public participation has been a priority throughout the process, from the strong turnout reflected in the 2023 Public Engagement Report to the feedback collected through surveys accompanying each draft chapter."

The draft plan is available for review online at the Worcester County website.

Written comments can be submitted through the county's online portal at arcg.is/1i1SOy. Feedback is also accepted by mail. Letters should be addressed to the Department of Development, Review and Permitting at One West Market Street, Room 1201, Snow Hill, MD 21863.

Additional opportunities for public input will be provided after the state review concludes. The Planning Commission will hold a public hearing before making a final recommendation. A separate public hearing will then be scheduled with the Worcester County Commissioners before the plan is adopted by resolution.

County officials encourage all residents to participate in this process. The draft plan may be modified based on community feedback prior to finalization.
