Worcester County Invites Residents to Shape Future of Local Parks
Snow Hill, MD - Worcester County officials are calling on the community to help guide the future of local land preservation, parks, and recreational programs. As part of the 2027 Land Preservation, Parks, and Recreation Plan (LPPRP) update, the county's Recreation and Parks and Environmental Programs professionals have scheduled two public listening sessions for early 2026.
These upcoming sessions provide a platform for citizens to voice their opinions, ask questions, and share ideas on conservation priorities for the next five years. The LPPRP serves as a critical guide for the county, outlining strategies for land conservation, park planning, and program improvements.
Key areas of focus include enhancing public recreational activities, ensuring facilities are available and accessible to underserved communities, and inventorying land for agricultural preservation.
Attendees will receive updates on current projects, including maps depicting land preservation and park locations. Officials will also briefly discuss the results of the needs assessment survey and review the capital budget for park improvement projects.
Residents of all ages are encouraged to attend one of the following outdoor sessions (indoor locations will be used in case of inclement weather):
- Tuesday, January 27, 2026: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Worcester County Recreation Center, 6030 Public Landing Road, Snow Hill.
- Thursday, February 5, 2026: 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Berlin Branch Library, 13 Harrison Avenue, Berlin.
For those unable to attend in person, participation is still possible through an online survey available ONLINE.
Updating the LPPRP every five years is a requirement under state law to maintain Worcester County's eligibility for state Program Open Space funds.
