80-Year Old Easton Man Arrested on Assault and False Imprisonment Charges
Easton, MD - An 80-year-old Easton man is facing criminal charges after officers with the Easton Police Department responded to an assault complaint earlier this month.
On April 13, 2026, officers were called to Lauren Lane in Easton, Maryland in response to a reported assault. When they arrived, they spoke with witnesses at the scene.
Based on what those witnesses told them, officers gathered enough evidence to move forward with an arrest. The evidence, according to police, was consistent with an assault having taken place.
Gerald Hurst, 80, of Easton, Maryland, was taken into custody and charged with Assault in the Second Degree and False Imprisonment. Both charges stem from the April 13 incident on Lauren Lane.
After his arrest, Hurst was released to the Talbot County Detention Center, where he was processed and held. Following his appearance in front of the District Court Commissioner, Hurst was released on a $5000 unsecured bond.
Assault in the Second Degree is a criminal charge in Maryland that generally involves causing or attempting to cause physical harm to another person. False Imprisonment refers to unlawfully restricting someone's freedom of movement without their consent.
The Easton Police Department has not released additional details about what led up to the incident or the relationship between those involved.
