Wicomico County, MD - We don't take endorsements lightly here at Eastern Shore Undercover. When we put our name behind someone, it means something to us. Today, we are proud to announce our second endorsement of the 2026 election campaign cycle, and this one is personal and close to our home.

We are proudly endorsing Ben Jorden for Wicomico County Council District 5.

When we evaluate a candidate, we start with two simple questions. Does this person have common sense? And are they a proven leader? With Ben Jorden, the answer to both of those questions is a confident and resounding..... YES.

Ben Jorden currently serves as Mayor of Delmar, Maryland. When he took office, the town was struggling and what some would call disarray. Things weren't working, and residents were feeling it.

Mayor Jorden changed that. He prioritized the police department, filled vacancies, and brought real focus back to what matters most to families. He launched community events that brought neighbors together and restored a sense of pride in the little Town of Delmar.

This is personal for us. My family and I have lived in Delmar since 2003. By 2021, my wife and I were seriously considering leaving. The direction of the town had frustrated and discouraged us to the point that we considered putting our home up for sale, and moving out of Delmar.

Mayor Jorden got elected and quickly turned that around. Today, Delmar feels like a close-knit community again. That is not an accident, that is directly because of his leadership.

Beyond his record, Ben Jorden is the kind of person you want representing your community. His campaign signs say it all: God. Family. County. That is not just a slogan. It reflects who he is and how he lives his life.

Now, let's talk about the primary, because voters in District 5 deserve the full picture.

Ben Jorden will face Joe White in the primary. Many in this community know Mr. White from his podcast, Open Agenda, and from his frequent appearances at Wicomico County Council meetings. He has made a name for himself largely by criticizing County Executive Julie Giordano at nearly every Wicomico County Council meeting.

Here is the problem with that. Our county has already spent several years watching the Council undermine the County Executive, making it difficult for progress to happen in Wicomico County. Replacing one combative voice with another does not fix anything. It just gives us four more years of the same nonsense that most of us have become annoyed with.

Mr. White was also part of the effort to eliminate the County Executive position entirely. Think about that. Rather than working within the system or waiting for an election, the goal was to remove the position altogether. That is not reform, that is taking away the people's voice.

Mr. White led in campaign donations of $6,000 in total split between a $1,000 donation and a $5,000 donation to attempt to get rid of the County Executive position. In a recent podcast interview with Mr. David James of Bridging The Gap, Mr. White stated in reference to Question A, "It didn't pass and since that time, I'm supportive of having an executive form of government."

That in itself should make the hair on your back rise knowing this man flip-flopped so easily, when it came time for him to run for election. Prior to this election, he was totally against our current County Executive and even went as far as trying to fund getting rid of the position, but now, is supportive and can work with her?

When you hear him say in local interviews that he can work with the County Executive, you have to ask yourself, is this real or just a political smoke screen to attempt to secure a seat on the council?

Voters deserve to know who they are choosing between.

On one side, you have a man who has already led a community through real challenges and come out the other side with results.

On the other, you have someone with a track record of conflict, accusation, and a negative connection or ability to work with the current leaders in place within our county government.

The choice in District 5 to me, is very crystal clear. We are proud to endorse Mr. Ben Jorden.

Wicomico County deserves a leader who has already proven what he can do and what he is capable of. We need a council member in District 5 who can collaborate, communicate, work with others, be a voice for their constituents and get things done.

Based on everything we have seen, Ben Jorden is exactly that kind of leader. He doesn't just make decisions, he has a way of bringing people together and unifying groups, for cohesive decisions that benefit all, not just some!

Ben Jorden is the leader Wicomico County needs!
