Cambridge Man Arrested After Missing Court Date

Talbot County, MD - Talbot County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested Rodney Oliver G. Smith, 55, of Cambridge, on July 24, 2026. Smith was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant. The arrest closed out a case that had been open since 2020.

The warrant traces back to a missed court appearance. On August 26, 2020, the Circuit Court for Talbot County issued the warrant after Smith failed to show up for a scheduled hearing.

That hearing was tied to an earlier charge of consuming an alcoholic beverage in a vehicle on a highway.

Following the arrest, deputies transported Smith to the Talbot County Central Booking for processing. He is being held pending a hearing before a Circuit Court judge. No further details have been released at this time.
