Cambridge Man Arrested for Strangling Woman on Colonial Ave

Cambridge, MD - Cambridge police responded to a disturbance on Colonial Avenue Wednesday morning and arrested a local man after a woman reported being strangled multiple times.

The call came in at approximately 10:31 a.m. on May 14, 2026. Officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Colonial Ave in reference to a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they made contact with a male and female involved in the incident. The female victim told officers she had been assaulted by the male subject.

That subject was identified as Dakai Tyrik Bryant, 22, of Cambridge, MD. The victim reported that Bryant had assaulted her by strangling her multiple times during the disturbance.

Officers observed visible signs of injury on the victim. Based on their investigation, Bryant was placed under arrest at the scene.

He was transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. Bryant was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held on No Bond.

Bryant faces the following charges: Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, and False Imprisonment.
