Cambridge Man Charged After Assaulting Officer, Guard at Hospital
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge man is facing criminal charges after police say he damaged property and assaulted two people at a local hospital while in police custody.
Cambridge Police Department officers arrested Lionel Antonio Shaw, 25, of Cambridge at approximately 9:00 a.m. on May 26, 2026. Following his arrest, Shaw was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge.
While at the hospital, police say Shaw damaged property and assaulted a security guard and a Cambridge Police Officer. The nature of the original arrest has not been specified in available information.
Shaw was released from the hospital and transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on an unrelated bench warrant that was already on file.
Officers then completed an application of charges related to the hospital incidents. A Criminal Summons was issued and served to Shaw at the detention center on May 27, 2026.
Shaw now faces two counts of Second Degree Assault and one count of Malicious Destruction of Property in connection with the hospital incident.
