Cambridge Man Charged With Assault After In-Car Argument

Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge man is facing assault charges after police say he pushed a passenger during a dispute while driving to Walmart on Tuesday morning.

Officers with the Cambridge Police Department responded around 11:45 a.m. on May 26, 2026, to the 900 block of High Street after a report of a physical disturbance.

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who said the incident happened while riding in a vehicle driven by Joseph Lamont Wood, 25, of Cambridge.

According to the victim, the two were on their way to Walmart when an argument broke out over how fast Wood was driving. The victim tried to get Wood to stop the vehicle, and Wood responded by pushing the victim.

Officers noted visible signs of injury on the victim at the scene.

Wood was taken into custody and later released on an unsecured bond of $7,500. He was charged with second degree assault.
