Cambridge, MD - On April 11, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Cambridge Police Officers responded to a reported disturbance on the 1100 block of Locust Street. Upon arrival, officers were directed by a witness to an upstairs apartment where a physical altercation was taking place.

Inside the residence, officers observed overturned furniture and located a female victim accompanied by multiple small children. A male subject, later identified as 38-year-old Lucas Edelmer Figueroa-Hernandez of Cambridge, Maryland, was also present at the scene.

Preliminary investigation determined that the female victim had locked the intoxicated suspect out of the apartment to prevent a dispute. Figueroa-Hernandez subsequently forced entry by kicking in the door. He then assaulted the female victim by striking her in the face multiple times.

The situation escalated when Figueroa-Hernandez retrieved a knife and advanced toward the female victim. One of the children intervened by stepping between the two individuals. The suspect then grabbed the child by the hair and pulled them aside.

The remaining children were able to hold the suspect back and guide him into a separate room. While in the other room, Figueroa-Hernandez used the knife to puncture a couch and a cell phone.

Figueroa-Hernandez was placed under arrest at the scene. He was later transferred to the custody of the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is currently being held on no bond.

Figueroa-Hernandez has been charged with the following offenses:

  • First-Degree Assault

  • Second-Degree Assault

  • Reckless Endangerment
