Cambridge Police Apprehend Suspect Following Theft at Goose Creek

Cambridge, MD - On April 14, 2026, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers from the Cambridge Police Department responded to a reported theft at the Goose Creek store located at 1801 Race Street. Store employees reported that a male subject entered the business, obtained alcoholic beverages, and exited the premises without providing payment.

A description of the suspect was provided to law enforcement. A short time later, officers located a subject matching the description in the 2400 block of the Cambridge Beltway.

The individual was identified as 58-year-old Gerald Lamont Ervin of Cambridge, Maryland. The stolen alcoholic beverages were recovered by officers at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that Ervin had an active Dorchester County District Court Bench Warrant. The warrant was issued for a failure to appear in court on April 13, 2026, regarding an original charge of theft less than $100.00.

Ervin was issued a criminal citation for theft less than $10.00. He was subsequently released on his personal recognizance regarding the bench warrant.
