Cambridge, MD - The Cambridge Police Department was notified on April 9, 2026, about an unsanctioned pop-up event planned for the 1000 block of Cosby Avenue on April 10, 2026.

According to the department, similar events in the past have placed significant pressure on law enforcement and affected nearby residents because of large crowds, disorderly activity, and violence.

Police said these events are often promoted on social media, attracting people from across Cambridge and surrounding areas, including many juveniles.

On April 10, the Cambridge Police Department coordinated with city officials, other city departments, and housing management staff at nearby apartment complexes to reduce potential issues. Temporary street closures were set up with support from the Department of Public Works to limit vehicle traffic in the area.

The police department also assigned additional personnel, including traffic enforcement units, K9 units, and the Drone Unit.

During the evening of April 10 and into the early morning of April 11, officers responded to several incidents connected to the event. Police reported multiple arrests, parking complaints, traffic violations, traffic stops, and several motor vehicle accidents. Officers also responded to multiple Shot Spotter alerts throughout the city.

The department stated that a list of incidents from the event would follow as part of its official reporting.
