Cambridge Resident Charged After Rental Car Not Returned
Cambridge, MD - On Sunday, October 4, 2026, at approximately 3:20 p.m., officers with the Cambridge Police Department served a criminal summons on a Cambridge resident.
The person was identified as Jamia Jarmon, 25, of Cambridge, Maryland. Jarmon is facing four charges tied to a rented vehicle that was not returned.
A criminal summons is a court order that tells a person they have been charged and must appear in court. It is used instead of an arrest in some cases.
The case goes back to the summer. On Thursday, August 20, 2026, police said Jarmon failed to return a rented vehicle.
The incident happened in the 3100 block of Aireys Spur Road in Cambridge, MD.
The victim later went to a District Court Commissioner and applied for charges against Jarmon. A commissioner looks at the facts of a complaint and decides if charges should be filed.
That step led to four charges. Jarmon is charged with Motor Vehicle Unlawful Taking and Unauthorized Removal of Motor Vehicle.
Jarmon is also charged with Vehicle Rent Fail to Return and Theft Less Than $100.
In Maryland, failing to return a rented vehicle on time can lead to criminal charges. Those charges are handled in court, not just between the renter and the owner.
