Cambridge Resident Charged in Lincoln Terrace Hit and Run
Cambridge, MD - On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at approximately 11:54 a.m., officers with the Cambridge Police Department served a criminal summons on a Cambridge resident.
The person was identified as Chick'Kayla Anderson Babes, 30, of Cambridge, Maryland. Babes is facing three charges tied to a hit and run crash from this summer.
The case goes back to Monday, August 24, 2026. Police said a vehicle hit a parked vehicle in the 700 block of Lincoln Terrace in Cambridge, Maryland.
The driver did not stay at the scene. Police did not say how much damage was done to the parked vehicle.
The crash was reported to police the next day. On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at approximately 5:20 p.m., officers went to the 600 block of Washington Street for a report of a past hit and run.
Officers started looking into what happened. Through their investigation, they were able to identify the vehicle that was involved. Police said they also identified Babes as the driver of that vehicle. Officers then applied for charges with the Court Commissioner.
A commissioner looks at the facts of a case and decides if charges should be filed. That step led to the summons served on October 7, 2026.
Babes is charged with Fail of Vehicle Driver in Accident to Report Accident to Nearest Police. Babes is also charged with Failure of Vehicle Driver Involved in Accident to Provide Insurance Policy Information.
The third charge is Holder of Learner's Permit Driving Without Required Supervision. A learner's permit lets a person practice driving, but only with a licensed adult in the car to supervise.
