Cambridge Woman Arrested for Drugged Driving on Hubbard Street
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge woman was arrested late Friday night after a routine traffic stop led officers to discover she had been driving under the influence of cannabis.
At approximately 10:33 p.m. on May 9, 2026, Cambridge Police Department officers pulled over a vehicle at the intersection of Hubbard Street and Washington Street. The vehicle had no headlights or taillights activated and had also run a stop sign.
When officers made contact with the driver, she was identified as Ramiesha Eshawn Askins, 32, of Cambridge, Maryland. Officers noted that Askins appeared to be under the influence.
During the stop, officers observed a bag of cannabis in Askins's purse while she was searching for items. Askins told officers she had consumed cannabis before getting behind the wheel.
Officers then asked Askins to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She agreed to take the tests but did not perform them successfully.
Based on the results of those tests, Askins was placed under arrest and transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. She was issued citations and released.
Askins faces the following charges:
-Driving While Impaired by Controlled Dangerous Substance
-Driving While So Far Impaired by Drugs Cannot Drive Safely
