Cambridge Woman Charged After Violent Assault at Home

Cambridge, MD - On September 9, 2026, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Cambridge Police Department (CPD) officers responded to the 400 block of E. Appleby Rd for a reported assault. Officers arrived and spoke with the victim about what happened.

The victim told officers he had just finished a full day of work and was sleeping when the incident started. He said an altercation broke out with Karen Yojana Ramos Agustin, a 44 year old woman from Cambridge, Maryland.

According to the victim, Agustin poured water on him while he was still in bed. He said she then hit him with a belt on his back before wrapping the belt around his neck and tightening it in an attempt to strangle him.

The victim also reported that Agustin came at him with a kitchen knife during the incident. Officers who responded to the scene observed visible signs of injury to the victim's back and neck, which supported his account of what happened.

Agustin was placed under arrest at the scene and taken to CPD for processing. She was later released by a court commissioner on her own personal recognizance.

Agustin faces three charges in connection with the incident. She was charged with Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, and Reckless Endangerment.
