Cambridge Woman Charged With Assault After Victim Pulled From Behind, Hair Torn Out
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge woman is facing serious assault charges after a physical altercation on Sunday evening left a victim with visible injuries and a clump of hair pulled from their head.
At approximately 6:53 p.m. on April 26, 2026, Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the 200 block of Belvedere Avenue after a report of an assault. When officers arrived, Dorchester County EMS was already on scene.
EMS personnel reported that the victim had walked out of the residence holding a clump of hair that had been pulled from their head. Officers then made contact with the victim to get a full account of what happened.
According to the victim, an argument broke out with 53-year-old Christie Denese Dugan, of Cambridge, over the victim being on the phone. As the victim tried to walk away from the situation, things took a more serious turn.
Dugan allegedly grabbed the victim by the hood of their clothing and pulled them back toward her. The victim reported that the action made it difficult for them to breathe.
Officers noted visible signs of injury on the victim. Based on the evidence and the victim's account, Dugan was taken into custody at the scene.
Dugan was later transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held on no bond. She is facing three charges in connection with the incident.
Those charges include First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, and Reckless Endangerment. First degree assault in Maryland is considered a felony and carries serious potential penalties.
