Child Airlifted After Water Rescue on Harpoon Road in Fenwick Island
Sussex County, DE - On July 22, 2026, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Bethany Beach Fire Company responded to the 30000 block of Harpoon Road in Fenwick, Delaware, for a reported traumatic injury.
While units were on the way, the Sussex County Emergency Operations Center advised that the patient was still in the water.
At this point, the call was upgraded to a water rescue response.
Bethany Beach Marine Units responded to reach the patient and remove them from the water. Sussex County Paramedics assisted on scene with advanced life support care.
The patient was stabilized on scene by EMS crews. One pediatric patient was then flown by ChristianaCare LifeNet helicopter to a specialty care center for further evaluation and treatment.
