County Executive Julie Giordano Sets Press Conference on Wicomico Nursing Home
Wicomico County, MD - Wicomico County Executive Julie Giordano will hold a press conference this Thursday to address recent events at the Wicomico Nursing Home. The event is set for August 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Wicomico County Council Chambers.
The press conference comes after weeks of public discussion about the Nursing Home. County officials say statements and allegations have circulated that created confusion about the facility's operations, administration, and current situation.
Giordano says she wants to give the public a clear and factual account of what has happened. She also plans to explain the actions taken so far and the county's plans moving forward.
"There has been a tremendous amount of misinformation, speculation, and hearsay circulating about the Nursing Home, and unfortunately, much of it has been presented to the public without the full context," said County Executive Giordano. "The residents of Wicomico County deserve facts. They deserve to understand what has actually occurred, why certain decisions have been made, and what we are doing to protect the long-term stability and success of this important facility."
During the press conference, Giordano will share information on recent developments at the Nursing Home. She will also address claims and misconceptions that have spread publicly, and outline the steps the county is taking next.
Giordano says it is important for the public to separate real concerns from allegations that have not been verified. She says decisions about the Nursing Home, its staff, its residents, and county taxpayers need to be based on documented facts, not rumors or political talk.
"The Nursing Home serves some of the most vulnerable members of our community, and discussions about its future should reflect the seriousness of that responsibility," Giordano said. "This press conference is an opportunity to put the facts before the public, provide necessary context, and explain where we go from here."
The press conference is open to both members of the media and the public. It will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 10 a.m. in the Wicomico County Council Chambers.
