Crisfield Garage Fire Injures One, Causes $140K Loss

Crisfield, MD - On September 11, 2026 at approximately 9:04 a.m., the Crisfield Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 2900 block of Byrdtown Road in Crisfield, Maryland for a report of a fire. The call came in for a one-story detached garage made of brick and wood framing.

The fire started inside the garage. Fire officials say it appears to have been accidental, caused by welding work that was happening at the time.

One adult male suffered an injury (burn) during the fire. He was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment. His condition at the time of this publication is unknown.

Nineteen firefighters responded to the scene under one alarm. It took about one hour to bring the fire under control.

The fire caused an estimated $100,000 in damage to the structure. Contents inside the garage were valued at an estimated $40,000 in losses.

The fire was discovered by the property's occupant. No additional information was released at this time.
