Delaware Man Faces 6th DUI and Drug Charges Following Motorcycle Crash in Laurel
Laurel, DE - On April 3, 2026, the Delaware State Police arrested 60-year-old Wade Bowersox of Bethel, Delaware. He was taken into custody on felony driving under the influence and drug charges. The arrest occurred after a reported collision on Friday night in Laurel.
At approximately 9:00 p.m., troopers responded to the parking lot of Tacos Chabelita, located at 30661 Sussex Highway. A preliminary investigation determined that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, operated by Bowersox, struck the passenger side of a parked Ford Explorer.
Following the crash, the motorcycle was moved by Bowersox to the rear of the business. He then entered the restaurant and took a seat inside.
Bowersox was located inside the establishment by responding troopers. Signs of impairment were observed. As he was escorted outside, an attempt was made by Bowersox to conceal a small bag of suspected cocaine in one of the motorcycle's saddlebags. He was subsequently arrested without incident.
A search of the motorcycle resulted in the discovery of approximately 1.68 grams of suspected cocaine, a digital scale, and additional alcoholic beverages.
Further investigation revealed that Bowersox has five prior DUI-related convictions. It was also determined that his driver's license was suspended.
Bowersox was transported to Troop 5, where a search warrant for his blood was obtained by troopers. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 3 on several charges. These include a sixth offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, which is a felony classification.
Additional charges include possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended, and related traffic offenses. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $30,602 cash bond.
