State of DE - A Camden man will spend 30 years in prison for killing his girlfriend inside the home they shared. Delaware Attorney General Kathy Jennings announced the sentence. Gregory Bratcher, 66, of Camden, was sentenced on October 7, 2026.

He received 30 years of Level V prison time. Bratcher had pleaded guilty to Murder Second Degree. The victim was his 72-year-old girlfriend.

The case goes back to June 30, 2024. That day, members of the woman's family called Delaware State Police and asked them to check on her at her home in Camden. When troopers got there, family members let them inside.

Troopers found the woman on the floor of her living room. She had died. She had bruises on her head, chest, and arms.

Bratcher, who lived with her, was named as a suspect. Bratcher later told police that he hit and grabbed the woman. He said he then left her lying on the floor and walked out of the home.

Her death was later ruled a homicide. The Delaware State Police led the investigation, and the Delaware Department of Justice handled the case in court.

Jennings shared a statement about the case and thanked the people who worked on it. "This was a tragic loss," said Attorney General Kathy Jennings. "I am grateful to our DOJ team and to our partners in the Delaware State Police for their dedication in this case. I hope it will bring the victim's family some measure of peace as they heal."
