Delaware Police Investigate Milford Murder-Suicide
Milford, DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a murder-suicide that happened Sunday afternoon in Milford, Delaware. The incident occurred at a home in Sugar Maple Farms, a neighborhood off Sugar Maple Drive in Milford, Delaware.
On July 5, 2026, at around 4:15 PM, Troopers were called to the 7000 block of Sugar Maple Drive. A man had called 9-1-1 to report that he killed his wife, then hung up the phone.
9-1-1 dispatchers and troopers on scene tried several times to reach the man after that call but those attempts were unsuccessful. Because of the danger the situation posed, the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team was called in.
When the team entered the home, they found a 38-year-old woman who had been shot. They also found a 43-year-old man with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have not released the names of the victims yet. They are waiting until the family members are notified before sharing that information publicly.
The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information about what happened is asked to come forward.
