Delaware State Police Bring Back School Supply Drive

State of DE - Delaware State Police are gearing up for their annual school supply drive to help children in need. The Community Engagement Unit is asking the public for donations to fill backpacks for local students.

The program is called Operation Troopers Have Your BACKpack. It works with local communities and organizations to collect and hand out school supplies to children who need them.

Anyone who wants to help can drop off donations at any Delaware State Police troop location.

Donations can also be dropped off at any Delaware State Police Federal Credit Union location. Each spot will have a box set up just for these supplies.

The donation window runs from August 3, 2026 through August 21, 2026. Once collected, the supplies will be handed out to students right before the new school year begins.

Troopers are hoping to collect backpacks, No. 2 pencils, and 24-count boxes of crayons. Spiral notebooks, large pink erasers, and colored pencils are also needed.

Washable markers, highlighters, and 3-ring binders round out the list of classroom basics. Loose leaf wide ruled paper, composition books, and plastic pocket folders are needed as well.

Boxes of tissues and hand sanitizer are also on the list this year. These items help keep classrooms stocked and ready for the school year.

Delaware State Police said they are grateful for how the community has supported this program in past years. That support has made it possible for many local children to start the school year with everything they need.

Troopers are hopeful the community will show that same generosity again this year. Every donation, no matter how small, helps a child walk into their first day of school feeling prepared.
