Dorchester County, MD - Dorchester County families now know when trick-or-treating will take place this year. The Dorchester County Council has set the official Halloween hours for residents across the county.

The Council approved the plan at its meeting on Tuesday, October 6, 2026.

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year. Trick-or-treating in Dorchester County will be on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The county hours are for children ages 12 and under. Parents may want to keep that age limit in mind as they plan their night.

There is one important thing to know before heading out. The county's hours do not replace any times or dates that a town has already set.

That means each town in Dorchester County can keep its own Halloween schedule. If a town has picked different hours, those town hours still stand.

Families who live outside of town limits should follow the county's 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. schedule. The only exception is if they plan to take their children into a town to trick-or-treat. In that case, they should follow that town's schedule.

If you are not sure what your town has planned, it is a good idea to check with your town office before October 31. That way, your family will be ready to go at the right time.
