Dover Woman Arrested for 5th DUI After Crashing into Mailbox, Spitting on Troopers
State of DE - A Dover woman is facing serious felony charges after Delaware State Police say she crashed her vehicle on Felton, Delaware street and then fought back when troopers tried to arrest her.
On Monday, April 21, 2026, just after noon, a trooper was flagged down by another driver who reported that a red vehicle had hit a pole on Main Street in Felton, DE.
When the trooper arrived, he found a red Chevrolet HHR up on the curb near Dundee Road, having struck a mailbox.
The trooper approached the driver, 42-year-old Ashley Green, of Dover, Delaware. He noticed she appeared to be talking on a phone, but no one was actually on the line. Green also showed several signs of impairment.
When the trooper asked Green to step out of the vehicle, she refused. She actively resisted arrest, even after a taser was deployed. Green also spit on several troopers before she was finally taken into custody.
A records check revealed that Green had four prior DUI-related convictions on her record. That makes this her fifth offense, which carries felony charges under Delaware law.
Green was transported to Troop 3, where she was formally charged with the following:
- Felony 5th Offense Driving Under the Influence of any Drug
- Felony Resisting Arrest with Force or Violence
- Offensive Touching with Saliva, Urine, Feces, or Other Bodily Fluid - 4 counts
- Crash-related traffic charges
She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution. Her bond was set at $12,003 secured.
This arrest is a reminder of just how serious repeat drunk and impaired driving is in our community. Four prior convictions did not stop Green from getting behind the wheel, and this time, it ended with a crash, a violent struggle, and multiple felony charges.
Impaired driving puts everyone at risk, the driver, passengers, and innocent people simply going about their day. A crash on a street like Main Street in Felton could have easily hurt someone walking by or another driver on the road.
