Driver Clocked at 115 MPH Leads to Three Arrests

Queen Anne's County, MD - On September 9, 2026 at approximately 2:51 a.m., the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office was conducting LIDAR speed enforcement near Rt. 50 and Chester River Beach. A deputy identified as DFC Meehan clocked a vehicle traveling 115 mph in a posted 55 mph zone.

DFC Meehan stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver, identified as Henry Lemus-Amaya. Two passengers were also in the car.

While talking with Lemus-Amaya, DFC Meehan noticed signs of impairment. An open alcoholic beverage was sitting in the front cup holder, and the deputy could smell alcohol coming from inside the vehicle.

Lemus-Amaya agreed to perform standard field sobriety tests. He did not pass them and was placed under arrest.

A later breath test showed his blood alcohol content at .16, twice the legal limit in Maryland.

DFC Meehan then spoke with the two passengers, identified as Marvin Agular-Orantes and Jose Amaya-Amaya. During that conversation, the deputy spotted a clear plastic bag holding a white powdery substance under Agular-Orantes' leg.

Both passengers were removed from the vehicle so a probable cause search could be conducted. That search turned up additional bags of a white powdery substance in the areas where each passenger had been sitting.

Agular-Orantes and Amaya-Amaya were both placed under arrest following the search.

Henry Lemus-Amaya faces charges of DUI, DUI per se, DWI, reckless driving, negligent driving, driving without a required license, and failing to display a license to police on demand.

Marvin Agular-Orantes and Jose Amaya-Amaya each face charges of CDS possession, not marijuana, and CDS possession of paraphernalia.
