Easton, MD - An Easton man is facing assault charges after police say he attacked a woman and then turned on an officer while being taken into custody.

On April 4, 2026, officers with the Easton Police Department responded to the 600 block of Dover Road in Easton after reports of an assault. When officers arrived, they found Larmonte D. Nixon, 45, of Easton, screaming in the parking lot and drawing the attention of multiple people nearby.

Officers spoke with a female victim at the scene. She told police that Nixon had assaulted her.

Nixon was placed under arrest following that conversation. The situation escalated as officers tried to put him into a patrol vehicle.

According to police, Nixon kicked an officer during the process. He also attempted to bite that same officer while resisting.

Nixon was taken to the Talbot County Detention Center after his arrest. The charges against him stem from both the alleged assault on the female victim and his actions toward the officer.

Second degree assault in Maryland can cover a range of physical contact intended to cause harm. An attack on a law enforcement officer during an arrest is treated seriously under state law and can carry significant consequences.

The incident took place in plain view of bystanders, with police noting that Nixon's behavior in the parking lot had already drawn the attention of numerous people before officers arrived on scene.

The Easton Police Department has not released any additional details about the case at this time. It is unclear whether Nixon has retained legal representation.
