Easton Man Charged After Assault at Car Wash
Easton, MD - An Easton man is facing assault charges after a dispute over a coupon turned physical at a local car wash last month.
On April 22, 2026, officers with the Easton Police Department responded to Wet Dog Car Wash on Matthewstown Road after receiving a report of an assault that had occurred earlier that day.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim, who told them that a verbal argument had broken out with a customer over the use of a car wash coupon. The situation quickly escalated beyond words.
According to police, the customer, later identified as Darryl H. Ritter, 60, of Preston, Maryland, allegedly became verbally aggressive and struck the victim in the face.
Officers reviewed surveillance footage from the business, which captured the confrontation and the actions of everyone involved. Ritter's identity was later confirmed through vehicle registration records.
On May 1, 2026, Ritter was served a criminal summons. He has been charged with Assault in the Second Degree and was released.
