Easton Man Charged After Wrong-Way Drive
Easton, MD - An Easton man was served a criminal summons last month following a late-night traffic incident that led police on a brief search through downtown streets.
Officers with the Easton Police Department served the summons on Dewine D. Johnson, 35, of Trappe, on May 26, 2026. Johnson was charged with negligent driving, driving the wrong way on a one-way street, failure to park within 12 inches of the right curb, and failure to display two lighted front lamps when required.
The incident took place on April 26, 2026, at around 2:00 a.m. Officers were on routine patrol along North Washington Street near Dover Street when they spotted a dark blue Ford Crown Victoria turn right from South Washington Street onto Dover Street.
The vehicle was traveling the wrong way on the one-way street. Officers tried to stop it but lost sight of the car during the attempt.
The vehicle was later found on Blake Street. It was facing the wrong direction and was not parked within 12 inches of the right curb.
Johnson was located nearby and identified as the driver. Officers also reviewed security camera footage from the area, which showed that Johnson had turned off the vehicle's lights before stopping.
Johnson was released after signing the criminal summons.
