Easton, MD - The Easton Police Department served a criminal summons on a Perry Hall man in connection with an online scam that cost a local victim thousands of dollars.

On April 21, 2026, officers served the summons on Taun H. Nguyen, 48, of Perry Hall, Maryland.

Nguyen is charged with Theft: $1,500 to under $25,000. The charge stems from an incident that took place in March 2026.

According to authorities, Nguyen allegedly scammed the victim into sending $5,600 to a fake airline listed on a social media platform. Investigators say the victim believed they were making a legitimate payment before realizing they had been deceived.

Online scams involving fake businesses on social media have become a growing concern across the country. Fraudsters often create convincing pages that appear to represent real companies, making it easy for unsuspecting people to fall for the scheme.

After being served with the criminal summons, Nguyen was released on his own signature.
