Easton Police Arrest Convicted Felon Found With Gun
Easton, MD - On July 30, 2026, the Easton Police Department arrested Dean Baynard, 38, of Easton, at an apartment on Jowite Street. Baynard was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Detectives executed a search and seizure warrant at the apartment where Baynard was living. They were assisted by the Natural Resources Police Tactical Response Team and the Easton Police Department Crisis Response Unit.
During the search, officers found a handgun and ammunition inside the apartment. A criminal records check showed Baynard is a convicted felon, which means he is barred from possessing a firearm or ammunition in Maryland.
Baynard appeared before a court commissioner following his arrest. He was ordered held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center.
On July 31, 2026, the Easton Police Department served Baynard with an arrest warrant while he remained in custody. The warrant charged him with first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
Those charges stem from an earlier incident that happened on July 21, 2026. The Easton Police Department received a call about the incident the next day, on July 22, 2026.
The investigation revealed Baynard displayed a handgun during an argument. He also made threats to assault and kill another person.
A records check tied to that incident also confirmed Baynard is a convicted felon. That means he was already prohibited from having a firearm under Maryland law at the time of the argument.
Baynard remains held without bond at the Talbot County Detention Center. No court date has been announced.
The Easton Police Department credited the Natural Resources Police Tactical Response Team and its own Crisis Response Unit for their help during the search and arrest.
