Wicomico County, MD - On Saturday, October 3, 2026, a deputy with the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office pulled over a vehicle in Wicomico County for an equipment violation. What started as a simple traffic stop ended with an arrest on warrants from four different law enforcement agencies.

The deputy asked the driver for his license and registration. The driver said he did not have his wallet, but he did hand over the vehicle's registration.

When the deputy asked for his name and date of birth, the driver gave a false name and a false birth date. He also told the deputy he did not have a valid driver's license and was driving with only a learner's permit.

The deputy ran the information through a records check. It did not match any valid record with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.

The deputy then questioned the driver a second time. According to the Sheriff's Office, he still gave a false name and date of birth.

Deputies kept working to find out who the driver really was. They identified him as Jarrell Lamar Spates.

A check showed Spates had open warrants with four agencies. Those agencies are the Maryland State Police, the Pocomoke City Police Department, the Worcester County Sheriff's Office, and the Anne Arundel County Sheriff's Office.

Spates was arrested on those warrants. He was also charged with Obstructing and Hindering, along with related charges.
