Fatal Crash Claims Life of Lewes Man Early Sunday Morning
Sussex County, DE - A 27-year-old Lewes man is dead following a single-vehicle crash that happened in the early morning hours of Sunday, April 26, 2026.
Delaware State Police say the crash occurred at approximately 12:20 a.m. on Wil King Road, just south of Kendale Road in Lewes, Delaware.
According to troopers, a Dodge Ram was traveling southbound when the vehicle left the roadway for reasons that are still under investigation.
The truck entered a ditch, overturned onto its roof, and came to rest against a tree.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to a local area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The victim's name has not been released. Authorities are withholding his identity until his family has been notified.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is actively investigating the crash. That unit specializes in piecing together exactly what happened in serious and fatal crashes.
