Fatal Motorcycle Collision on River Road Claims Life of Seaford Resident
Sussex County, DE - A Seaford resident died following a motorcycle collision that occurred on Saturday night in Sussex County, Delaware.
The Delaware State Police are investigating the fatal collision, which occurred at approximately 9:20 p.m. on May 9, 2026, on River Road east of Woodland Ferry Road in Seaford, Delaware.
According to investigators, a Yamaha XVS motorcycle was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed when the rider failed to navigate a curve. The motorcycle subsequently fell on its side and skidded off the roadway.
The rider, a 56-year-old Seaford man, was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the following day, May 10, 2026. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is conducting an investigation. Authorities request that anyone with information or who witnessed the incident contact law enforcement.
