Fatal Motorcycle Crash in Selbyville Under Investigation
Sussex County, DE - A 56-year-old man from Frankford, Delaware, died early Wednesday morning after his motorcycle left the roadway and struck a barrier in Selbyville, according to Delaware State Police.
The crash happened around 1:20 a.m. on May 20, 2026, on Lighthouse Road near Fenwick Shoals Boulevard. The man was riding a Harley-Davidson Road King eastbound when the motorcycle failed to make a slight left curve and ran off the road.
The motorcycle struck a concrete and metal safety barrier. The rider was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.
Lighthouse Road was shut down for about four hours while troopers conducted the initial investigation. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing to look into what caused the crash.
