Fire Displaces Five in Sudlersville, Claims The Life of One Family Pet

Sudlersville, MD - On August 3, 2026 at approximately 8:55 a.m., the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 1300 block of Sudlersville Road in Sudlersville, Queen Anne's County, Maryland for a structure fire.

The fire broke out in a one-story, wood-framed, single-family home. The occupants were not home at the time. A neighbor discovered the fire and called 911.

Firefighters had the fire under control within 45 minutes.

Five people were displaced by the fire. Tragically and unfortunately, one of the family's pets passed away as a result of the fire.

Fire officials say the fire started in the living room. It was ruled accidental, caused by an unspecified electrical failure involving a window air conditioning unit.

The fire was fought on two alarms with 25 firefighters on scene. Damage is estimated at $50,000 to the structure and $50,000 to its contents.
