Fourth Suspect Charged in Linkwood Shooting of 5-Year-Old

Dorchester County, MD - On August 11, 2026, at approximately 2:30 a.m., troopers from the Maryland State Police Easton Barrack responded to a residence in the 3900 block of Ocean Gateway in Linkwood for a report of a shooting.

A five-year-old girl died in that shooting, and now a fourth suspect has been charged in connection with her death.

Maryland State Police say the new suspect is a 16-year-old from Dorchester County. He is charged with first-degree murder and other related charges.

His name has not been released because he is a juvenile. He is currently being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

This arrest comes after three other people were charged last month. Anthony D. Harris, 26, and Wendell A. Wongus III, 23, both of Hurlock, are charged with first-degree murder and other related charges.

Lindsay Jo Ewing, 42, of Cambridge, is charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder and other related charges. Harris, Wongus, and Ewing are all being held without bond.

When troopers arrived on the night of the shooting, they found two people with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The five-year-old girl was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical crews.

A 30-year-old man was also shot. He was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a trauma center for treatment.

As the investigation moved forward, detectives learned that the man, Ryan Adams, and a 15-year-old were suspects in another shooting. That shooting happened several hours earlier in Hurlock, and no one was killed.

Investigators believe the Hurlock shooting and the Linkwood shooting are connected. Adams has since been released from the hospital and is charged with attempted first-degree murder and other related charges.

The 15-year-old is also charged with attempted first-degree murder and other related charges. Both are being held without bond at the Dorchester County Detention Center.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit is leading the case. The Forensic Sciences Division, Special Operations Division, the FBI, Hurlock Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies are helping.
