Georgetown Crash Claims The Life Of A Millsboro Man, Injures Passenger
Sussex County, MD - A single-car crash on Peterkins Road in Georgetown, Delaware left one man dead and a woman seriously hurt Sunday morning. Delaware State Police are still investigating what caused the fatal wreck.
The crash happened around 9:15 a.m. on July 5, 2026. A Honda Accord was heading south on Peterkins Road and approaching a slight left curve when it ran off the west side of the roadway.
The car then came back onto the road, spun off the east side, and hit two trees. The impact flipped the Honda onto its roof.
The driver, a 32-year-old man from Millsboro, Delaware died at the scene. Police are withholding his name until his family has been notified.
The passenger, a 31-year-old woman also from Millsboro, Delaware was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Her condition has not been released.
Peterkins Road was shut down for about three hours while investigators worked the scene. It has since reopened to traffic.
Delaware State Police's Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation. So far, no cause has been confirmed for why the car left the road.
