Georgetown Man Arrested in HVAC Theft Investigation

Georgetown, DE - On September 15, 2026, at approximately 8:55 a.m., Delaware State Police responded to a newly built home in the 19000 block of West Piney Grove Road in Georgetown, Delaware. Troopers were called for a report of a stolen HVAC unit.

Investigators learned that someone had taken the unit from the property. Later that same day, troopers responded to a second theft report at Spirit of Excellence Church, 31195 Dupont Boulevard, Dagsboro. Delaware.

That case also involved a missing HVAC unit. Detectives began looking into both thefts together.

Through their investigation, detectives identified 46-year-old William Pusey of Georgetown, DE as the suspect. They learned Pusey had taken both units to a local scrap yard and signed paperwork there to collect payment for them.

On September 18, 2026, Pusey was arrested and taken to Troop 4. He was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace and committed to the Department of Correction on a $5,002 secured bond.

Pusey faces several charges. They include two counts of felony theft over $1,500, selling stolen property over $1,500 or with two or more prior convictions, and selling stolen property under $1,500.

He is also charged with criminal mischief for property damage between $1,000 and $5,000, two counts of falsifying business records, and two counts of criminal trespass third degree.
