Sussex County, DE - A Georgetown teenager has died from injuries he suffered in a serious crash on Bethesda Road earlier this month, and Delaware State Police are still working to find out exactly what happened.

On May 1, 2026, around 11:45 a.m., a Honda Accord was heading north on Bethesda Road, north of Avenue of Honor. Investigators say the car was traveling at an apparent high rate of speed when the driver lost control.

The Honda left the road on the east side, struck a culvert ditch, and went airborne. It then hit a utility pole and overturned, throwing the driver from the vehicle. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The driver, 18-year-old Pablo Pineda Pindea of Georgetown, was rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. He died on May 26, 2026, more than three weeks after the crash.

The investigation is being handled by the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit. Detectives are still working to piece together the full sequence of events.

Police are asking anyone who saw the crash or has information about it to come forward. You can contact Master Corporal J. Smith directly at (302) 703-3267.
