Governor Meyer Nominates Hudson for Sussex Family Court

Sussex County, DE - Governor Matt Meyer has nominated Mark H. Hudson to serve as a judge on the Family Court of the State of Delaware in Sussex County. The announcement was made today by the governor's office.

Hudson currently serves as a Family Court Commissioner in Sussex County. He has held that position since November 2025.

Before becoming a commissioner, Hudson served as chief of legal services for the Delaware Office of the Child Advocate. He held that role from July to November 2025.

He also worked as a deputy attorney general in the Delaware Department of Justice's Child Protection Unit. Hudson served in that position from June 2024 to July 2025.

Earlier in his career, Hudson spent eight years as a deputy child advocate with the Office of the Child Advocate. He held that role from March 2016 to May 2024.

Governor Meyer spoke about the nomination in a statement. "Mark Hudson understands both the law and the real impact Family Court decisions have on Delaware families," said Governor Matt Meyer. "His extensive experience in family law, child welfare, and public service has prepared him to serve Sussex County with the consideration, care, and compassion these cases require."

Hudson's nomination now goes to the Delaware Senate. He must be confirmed before he can officially take the bench.

Hudson has other legal experience as well. He practiced law at Haller & Hudson and at the Law Office of Dean A. Campbell LLC, and he served as a judicial law clerk in the Delaware Court of Common Pleas.

Hudson earned his bachelor's degree in history, with honors, from the University of Delaware in 2004. He went on to earn his law degree, cum laude, from Roger Williams University School of Law in 2007.

He was admitted to the Delaware Bar in 2008. He was admitted to the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware in 2009.

Hudson belongs to several legal organizations. These include the Delaware State Bar Association, the Sussex County Bar Association, the National Association of Counsel for Children, the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges, and the Judicial Engagement Network.

He has also held leadership roles in the local legal community. Hudson previously served as both president and vice president of the Sussex County Bar Association.
