Governor Meyer to Sign House Bill 411 in Harrington on Wednesday

State of DE - Governor Matt Meyer will travel to Harrington, Delaware this week to sign a new law affecting drug and alcohol enforcement in Delaware. The signing will take place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 at the state's enforcement office in town.

House Bill 411 renames the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Enforcement. Going forward, the agency will be known as the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Marijuana Enforcement, or DATME.

The name change reflects the division's expanded role. Since Delaware launched its legal retail marijuana market, the division has taken on new responsibilities for marijuana enforcement across the state.

The bill was sponsored by Representative Ed Osienski. Senators Trey Paradee and John Walsh also sponsored the legislation.

Governor Meyer will be joined by several officials for the signing ceremony. Secretary Joshua Bushweller, Representative Osienski, Senator Paradee, and Division Director John Yeomans are all expected to attend. Division officers will also be on hand.

The event is scheduled for 4:15 to 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. It will be held at the Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Marijuana Enforcement office, located at 17267 S. DuPont Highway in Harrington, Delaware.

The bill signing marks an official update to state law. It formally lines up the division's name and duties with the work it has already been doing since Delaware's marijuana market opened.
